As a Utah native living in Summit County, I have over nineteen years of law enforcement service. I joined the Summit County Sheriff’s Office in 2005 and was promoted to the rank of Captain over the Operations Bureau in 2012. Since 2013, I have been the sole Bureau Chief and currently command close to 100 sworn and civilian employees and oversee all divisions within the Sheriff’s Office. I am responsible for the day-to-day operations and logistics of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

“The safety and security of Summit County has been my principal passion for more than a decade, so I have more than a fleeting interest in the race for sheriff. Justin is the only candidate with an unblemished record of innovative public service, and that’s why he is, by far, the best option to succeed me as your sheriff.”

~ Sheriff David A. Edmunds, Sheriff of Summit County, Oakley, Utah

Over the span of my law enforcement career, I have successfully held supervisory positions as a Division Commander, Patrol Sergeant, Watch Commander, SWAT Team Leader, Honor Guard Team Leader, and Training Coordinator. I have also served as a motorcycle officer, bike patrol officer, traffic officer, and lead detective.

In 2003, I was handpicked from hundreds of applicants to establish the new Draper City Police Department. During this inaugural year, I was awarded the Officer of the Year. I have also been the recipient of three prestigious life saving medals.

Prior to my law enforcement career, I served a military tour of duty in the United States Coast Guard. I successfully completed air crewman flight candidate school and served as a helicopter air crewman. I was awarded numerous medals and citations before being honorably discharged from the military.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Service Management Administration from Utah Valley University. I am married to my best friend, Holli, and have two beautiful daughters, Arica and Alyssa. My hobbies include fly-fishing, camping, skiing, and attending University of Utah football games as a season ticket holder.
